Welcome to my monthly newsletter that mixes two of life's greatest medicines: plants and pop culture.

Contrary to what many corners of the internet tell us, herbalism doesn’t have to exclusively mean: meadow strolls, potato sack dresses (with all due), understanding moon phases, or giving up your 9-5 to build a homestead. We can geek out on nettles, passionflower and holy basil with as much fervor as we do over Vanderpump Rules, Daria, and Beyonce’s journey from I Am…Sasha Fierce to Lemonade to Renaissance to Cowboy Carter. It’s all medicine.

So I created this space to talk about herbalism in a practical, down-to-earth way that doesn’t exclude the other things I enjoy in life. Some people will make you think you can’t embrace both at the same time. But plants contain multitudes and so do we.

What's in each newsletter?

  • A deep dive into a pop culture moment/theme
  • A plant that connects to that moment—and an approachable, 101-style guide to its medicinal benefits, how to grow it and ways to incorporate it into your life
  • A recipe every now and then

Who is Archana?

A journalist and recent graduate of the Earth Island School of Herbs. A firm believer that we are all students for life, this newsletter isn't just a way to share info, build community and extol the excellence of The Comeback. It's a way for Archana to keep studying plants, too. Like a Continuing Studies program, but cooler.

Archana is based in Southern California, grew up on the East Coast and wrote a fan letter to Simpsons creator Matt Groening in elementary school. To learn more about her writing, check out her portfolio.

Some fine print.
